Every week the school takes a nature walk, usually Friday at 1 p.m., that is also open to anyone interested (more info). Each time we study something specific, such as insects or particular aspects of plants. This time it was leaf classification. Students keep nature notebooks and draw what they are learning and observe.
Most of these nature walks are close to the school on Rudisill, but occasionally we venture further afield. Recently we headed out to Fox Island County Park, a beautiful, family-friendly nature preserve with plenty of wildlife and many trails short enough for short legs. Families picnicked and went for a swim afterwards on a rather humid day. It was perfect.
Wonderful! Thanks for sharing. 🙂
