Many families join our nature walks, and we love to have you. Due to this year’s expansion of our school, we’ve had to change nature walk time to 1:30 p.m. on Fridays so older students don’t lose precious learning time. The nature walk page has been updated with that information.
It has also been updated in response to questions from homeschool families about paying materials fees to do things like build bird houses and feeders as part of nature walks this school year. Families can now pay $20 upfront for the first child, and $12 for each additional child, to take care of that for the whole school year, or pay piecemeal when attending the few nature walks with materials fees.
Just bring a check when you come for whichever option you prefer, and email or text a week beforehand if you’re paying piecemeal so we can purchase the right amount of supplies. More specifics are also on the nature walk page.
Like last year, we will hold a community picnic lunch on Fridays at noon. Many nature walkers and school families join the students for lunch that day. Because of the change to 1:30 for nature walk, kids who aren’t back in class from 12:30 to 1:30 are welcome to play in the school’s new natural playground while parents chat, until nature walk starts.
Our first nature walk of the year is an introduction to birding and bird log notebooks. Bring your nature notebook or $3 to buy one custom-designed for this year’s nature study. See you Friday, September 7, at the school at 1:30 p.m. to start a great year of nature walking!
