Reason magazine recently profiled how businessman Bob Luddy finally discovered, after trying to work inside the public education system through getting elected, serving on commissions, and even running his own charter schools, that the best solution to improving American education is to start low-cost private schools like ours. Every other option typically results in marginal changes at best and more quickly becomes diluted from its original vision. Creating a full alternative network takes the most work but also has the most impact because it requires the least compromise with the existing system’s failures.
